Social Groups

Social Groups are our Specialty!

A purposeful balance of direct teaching and unstructured fun, group experiences give kids the opportunity to develop social strength in a real life situation.

Groups are a good fit for many of kids- with or without an identified social learning challenge.

A variety of curricula and approaches are used to develop teaching materials, including the work of Michelle Garcia Winner. Katy has trained in Michelle’s mentoring program, and integrates Social Thinking into every group at Skills for Living.

Groups include 4-6 children, and are facilitated by two experienced adults.

Great care is taken to place kids in a group with his or her peers- socially, cognitively, and

chronologically. For this reason, it is very important for a child and parent to attend welcome meeting before being placed in a

social group.
